Options for Fighting Bad Breath

Everybody hates dragon breath, and unfortunately, it’s a common problem. If you have bad breath, there are certain short-term and long-term measures you can take. Allow Dr. Valerie Foster and our team to offer some helpful tips for banishing bad breath.

Eat a Mint or Chew Gum
Sugar-free mints and gum are really helpful to quickly mask bad breath before a business meeting or a social outing. This is one of those short-term fixes, though. A mint or chewing gum will not cure bad breath, only cover it. Mints and chewing gum still come in handy, though, as they are small and can easily fit in a pocket or purse.

Drink Water
If you suffer from consistent or recurring bad breath, dry mouth may be the reason. Dry mouth means that your mouth is not producing enough saliva, so there is not sufficient saliva to clean your mouth of bad-smelling bacteria and food particles. Drinking lots of water is a great way to combat dry mouth, and in turn bad breath.

Use Mouthwash
Mouthwash is another quick fix for bad breath. Mouthwash can cover bad odors without actually addressing the cause of the problem.
